The weather is getting warmer, and whales are now being sighted every day. It's also almost time for the Whale Festival at the end of September and everybody is getting ready for a busy festival. At The Hermanus Esplanade our prices are still so good that coming for a holiday while its still quiet is an excellent idea.
A new adventure boat has been launched,”The Marine Big 5 Eco Trip”. They meet in the New Harbour in Hermanus, from where they launch. First they pass Danger Point and then head for Dyer Island finding Southern Right Whales on route. At Dyer Island one can view the African Penguins. Thereafter they go to Geyser Island the place the Cape Fur Seals call home. The island is home to about 55000 seals. Then they will go between the two islands, this is called Shark Alley. At Shark Alley you can view the famous Great White Sharks. And hopefully you might have a sighting of the Dolphins. The trip is about 3 hours long and it is advisable to dress warmly. The cost for this amazing trip is:R850.00 p/p ,Please feel free to ask our reception to book this trip for you.
Another new venture is the opening of the new Save Our Seas Shark Display in the White Shark Embassy at Kleinbaai near Gansbaai. It is the new center that continues to foster a love and appreciation for the sharks through awareness. A must see if you are visiting The Hermanus Esplanade this August.
The month of August is full of activity ,with the ever popular Hermanus Food & Wine Festival with 250 wines from more than 70 producers for tasting. All wines can be purchased on site or shipped home. And the Kalfiefees promises great fun with excellent music and performances from all over, see their website for the program and booking enquiries. A Wedding Indaba is also planned and it is a must if you are planning on having a wedding do soon.
Restaurants in Hermanus are also keeping their promise with some great winter warmers, specially for those who are a bit tight on the money front, eating out will still be good value and good quality.
Our low whale season prices end after August so take advantage now!
